I’m sure around this time of year lots of you experience the year end blues. The year feels like it should be over, but the last few suborn weeks just don’t seem to want to give up. Days drag on and you are just looking forward to the Christmas break where you can spend some quality time with family.
In this short video I explain the two main things I use to fight against those end off year blues and sprint all the way to the finish line:
Diet is a really touchy subject and people love getting worked up about it.
In this article I’m going to cover why the diet you follow doesn’t really matter that much, it’s about what you are trying to achieve. The reasons I follow this eating plan, from family cancer scares to increased energy and mental clarity. I also share some of the products and tools I use to make this as easy as possible.
I’m going to get this out of the way right at the start here. I am not a doctor and I do not pretend to be one (except for Halloween 2 years ago). All of this is based on my own research and experiences.
Ok so now we can get to the fun stuff!!
This article is structured around questions I asked a lot and get asked a lot. So you can jump straight to the section that interests you:
What is Ketosis?
Why do you do it?
How do you get into Ketosis?
How do you know if you are in Ketosis?
What is the difference between Keto/Paleo/Atkins/whatever other diet they will come up with next….
What can/ can’t I eat?
How do you afford a Ketogenic eating plan?
Do you cheat/ drink Alcohol at all?
Is Ketosis dangerous? Read more
Start With Why by Simon Sinek is a very interesting book and I can recommend it to absolutely anybody. In the below video I’ve tried to summarise just 3 points from the book that I personally found very interesting. If you are struggling with marketing for your company or if you are wondering why great companies sometimes seem to fail and lose their way, this book is for you.
He explores ways that most brands market their products: Price, Promotion, Fear, Aspiration, Peer pressure and Novelty. He goes in to the Golden Circle, as he calls it, of WHY, HOW and WHAT and how it impacts our brain’s. How our WHY’s impact us, and also how a WHY works in an organisation.
Hope you enjoy the below short summary on Start With Why by Simon Sinek.

I have a bit of a confession to make. Don’t worry I’m not about to over share (like that family member who had too much to drink over Christmas), I’m sure you might have the same problem. You never plan for it to happen, but when it does, an entire weekend can disappear without a trace…..
I love binge watching series over weekends.
I’ll start on a Saturday and by Sunday evening, I’ll be wrapping up the last episode of the season.
The only problem is that I feel super guilty after doing it!! There are always things I know I should be doing while I watch the series. So I don’t really enjoy it.
It’s exactly the same when I’m checking Facebook at work or chatting with a friend. It’s fun, but I feel a little guilty because I know I should be doing something else or I won’t get all my work done.
After struggling with this for a while I heard the following quote on a podcast Tim Ferriss did with Jocko Willink:
“Discipline will set you free” Read more

So why aren’t you successful yet?
We’ve all have lots of justifications:
- “I’m too busy right now.”
- “I don’t have enough money.”
- “I don’t have enough time.”
- “I’m in the wrong country.”
- “It’s too risky.”
- “I’m not experienced enough.”
- “I’m too old now.”
- “I’m too young.”
- “I’m not good enough.”
- “I could never do that.”
- “I’m not smart enough.”
- “I’m just going to fail.”
Most of the time these justifications aren’t the real reason you haven’t achieved what you want. They are just the stories you tell yourself, and if you tell a story for long enough, you’ll start believing it. Read more
So in my previous video I talked about how to set goals.
You have to:
Make the goal clear
Set a deadline and
Get some accountability
Now goals are great and you really have to set goals to challenge you. But without action, goals mean nothing. You can have the best goals in the world, but if you never take action you are never going to achieve them.
Coach Brad Stevens who is the head coach of the Boston Celtics said: “You can have the goal of a championship, but there’s a process to get there and your focus needs to be on that.” Read more

So how many times have you doubted yourselves?
Thought that everyone around you is going to find out you don’t really know what you are doing. That you are just faking it?
Don’t worry, everyone does this. Read more

So what I want to share this week is, something that’s called Parkinson’s law.
All Parkinson’s law says is that: “work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion”
Abraham Lincoln probably explained it best, he said: “If you give me 6 hours to chop down a tree, I’ll spend the first 4 sharpening the ax.” Read more

Who would ever think that you could learn one of the oldest life lessons from a superhero movie?
Well you can.
On the surface Captain America Civil War is about two guys who used to be friend. They then reach a point where they can’t agree on the way forward. Queue epic fight scenes……
But if you look a little deeper you’ll see something interesting. Read more

I’m just going to get it out there and say it. Disappointment sucks!!
You try your best, give your all and still don’t get it…… It feels like someone kicked you in the stomach. Whether this was asking for a promotion/raise, your new project failing or a relationship not working out. It just sucks. Period.
Disappointment is part of life and we all have to deal with it. I’m talking real soul wrenching disappointment, when you put your heart into something.
Aristotle probably said it best: “There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing and be nothing.”
Exactly the same is true for disappointment.
So make peace with it. You are going to face disappointment in your life, it’s not going to be fun, but it’s part of learning and developing. Read more
